Canada beat Bermuda

Canada comprehensively beat Bermuda today by 34 runs to go 2-0 in the Americas T20. Gunasekera made 62, and a strong bowling performance from Pervez, Dutta and Hansra contributed to the win.
Canada batted first, and failed to fully capitalise on a strong start. Cheema (29) and Gunasekera put on 49 for the first wicket. Kumar (20) helped take the total to 94 batting well before being bowled attempting a reverse sweep. Gunasekera made 62 but had little support as wickets tumbled in the closing overs. Canada went from 130/4 after 18 overs to 143/8 after twenty, and will have to bowl well to defend an average total. Bermuda’s reply was delayed by rain, and they chased a revised target of 105 from 13 overs. Cecil Pervez got Canada off to a great start with a wicket from the first ball of the innings. Pervez struck again in the third over, and when Nitish Kumar ran out the dangerous Hemp, Bermuda were 8/3. Tucker hit a couple of boundaries to put Bermuda back in the chase, but Jimmy Hansra had Burgess caught behind, 27/4 after 5. Tucker hit another six but then was bowled by Hansra. Dutta came on and took two quick wickets as Canada put on the pressure and Bermuda finished well short on 70/8.
