The Americas squad were outclassed by hosts Trinidad and Tobago today in Port of Spain, going down to a 9 wicket defeat.
The Americas won the toss and chose to bat. Nitish Kumar took over the captaincy from Gunasekera who wasrested. Another poor batting effort saw them bowled out for a meagre 81 from 26 overs. The only bright spot was Canadian Srimantha Wijeratne who again top-scored, this time with 30.
The Americas struggled from the outset, and after making just 4 runs from the first four overs lost their first wicket in the fifth. This brought in in Nitish Kumar who contributed just 2 before giving square leg an easy catch. Wijeyeratne had made 30 out of 49 runs when he was somewhat unluckily given leg-before. Only he and Allen (22) reached double figures on a slow pitch with low bounce.
The match reached a rapid conclusion as T+T raced to a 9 wicket win in the 13th over.
