Canada Cricket Online has learned that the Cricket Canada AGM is being held this weekend, March 19-20 in Vancouver. The event has not been announced on the Cricket Canada web site or Facebook page. It is understood that the majority of the meeting will be open only to voting members- provincial directors and officers of Cricket Canada – and that elections for a number of positions will be held.
Although the constitution of Cricket Canada restricts voting to provincial directors, an AGM offers the possibility for engaging cricketers more generally. The Skate Canada AGM for instance is attended by close to 2000 people, features workshops on a wide variety of topics, and culminates in an awards gala. This costs money of course, and Cricket Canada cannot afford to emulate this much larger sporting body, but holding this meeting in near-secrecy in a city that has many cricketers represents a missed opportunity.
Update: As of March 17, Cricket Canada have provided details and the agenda on their web site
