Cricket Canada elections deferred

Cricket Canada’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) concluded around lunchtime on Sunday (March 20, 2016) in Vancouver, British Columbia but the scheduled election of officers has been held over until a future date. The elections are expected to be conducted within the next 60 days, if not in 60 days time.

Some of the delegate would appear to have expressed concerns during closed sessions, and it is expected that the elections will be conducted by a remote/electronic process at a later date. An official statement or release about the deferral of the elections is likely to be made by Cricket Canada.

It is not expected that any broad gathering of delegates and board members will be arranged as there are some significant costs involved in hosting national AGMs. Indeed, some of the delegates from the Atlantic Provinces face long journeys home, even following Sunday’s formal discussions. Some informal discussions were in progress when I left the AGM’s venue at the Delta Suites Hotel around 2pm (Pacific time) this afternoon.
