Geoff Edwards inducted into Mississauga Sports Hall of Fame

Although he didn’t think Canadians knew much about cricket before coming here, he was pleased to see it had a good following. While studying, he also played in the Hamilton and District Cricket League and later served as an administrator before moving to Mississauga in 1974. He went on to serve in a variety of administrative roles before becoming president of Cricket Canada from 1996 to 2003.
“Because cricket had been so wonderful for my development, I wanted to spread it to as much people as possible,” said Edwards, a former Mississauga Sports Council director for 18 years.
“With this acknowledgement, I hope that I have made some progress in that regard, but I think there’s a lot more that can be done.”
