2016 Cricket Across the Pond Scholarships

There is still time for young cricketers to apply for a place on this summer’s “Toronto Mayor’s Cricket Across the Pond Tour”. This year those selected for the tour will be visiting Trinidad from August 7 through 14. Vinod Sharma, who acted as Master of Ceremonies for the presentations of the Boys High Schools trophies at Saturday’s CIMA Mayor’s Schools Cricket Greater Toronto Area playoffs in Brampton, did go around to the teams advising applications can still be made for this year’s “Cricket Across the Pond Tour”.
Applications should be made via the CIMA Canada website. The closing date currently shown is Friday, June 6, 2016 but June 6 was not a Friday this year. Perhaps you have until the end of June 6, 2016 (close of Monday) to apply, perhaps there are a few days grace until Friday June 10, 2016. But I am not certain. What I do realize from what I overheard yesterday around the grounds at Batsman Park is that applications were being invited, So take a look in the next day or two and see if a cricketing trip to Trinidad is of interest to you, if you meet the requirements required to potentially win a “Cricket Across the Pond Scholarship”. RBC is a sponsor of this initiative that is operated by the City of Toronto in conjunction with CIMA Canada.(EN)
