Lions Field in Pincher Creek will transform into a makeshift cricket oval this coming Sunday. The pitcher’s mound will be graced by ‘bowlers’, while ‘batsmen’ will dig into the batter’s box and try to hit bounced pitches.
This Sunday’s exhibition is about fun and introducing new people to the sport, according to event organizer Sherman Eugene.
“It’s just a fun cricket match, nothing competitive, people should come out and have a good time,” said Eugene, a native of the tiny Caribbean island of St. Lucia. “We have people coming out from everywhere; guys from the West Indies making an appearance, the usual guys from [Commonwealth countries] are coming out, along with a few locals from Pincher Creek.”
