Edmonton Challengers blaze to BC Big Bash crown

Edmonton Challengers blazed to a ten wicket win over Seattle Moose in Sunday’s BC Big Bash final (July 3, 2016). Canadian international Rizwan Cheema clipped 75* from 40 balls and Sudeepta Aurka, a Canadian U19 international, struck 41*. Edmonton Challengers opening pair brought victory after 12.5 overs in response to Seattle Moose’s 119/9 from 20 overs. Canadian international pacer Cecil Pervez picked up some early.wickets and ended with 3/34 from 4 overs. Kanwar Maan took 3/18 from 4 overs.

Rizwan Cheema bowled 4 economic overs in the final, ending with 1/21. On opening day (Canada Day, July 1, 2016) Cheema took 4/26 (4 overs) in a narrow 3-run win against Surrey Knights. Cheema followed with 5/20 (4 overs) in a 21-run win against Victoria Shell. Sudeepta Aurka lead with 57* in Challengers 135/3 (20 ov) against Surrey Knights, who ended on 132/8 (20 overs). Aurka followed with 37 against Victoria Shell. Gursher Bath hit 47 in Victoria Shell’s 128/9 (20 overs) that followed Challengers 149/8 (20 overs).

Cricket BC provided scoring updates, various photos, some film clips from a few games and a mix of copies of manual scorecards and scorecards posted via the Chauka scoring app during the course of the weekend. Thanks to the scorers and social media updaters, Cricket BC and to the participating players and match officials. The game takes place on the field.
