Cricket in Lethbridge, Alberta

The sport of cricket was on display last weekend as the Lethbridge and Area Cricket Association held its annual Cricket Tournament. And over the course of the two-day event at Stoney Crescent West, curious passersby stopped in to not only check out a game or two, but to make a few enquiries about the sport.
“What we’ve tried to do is promote cricket. It’s good to see people coming in and we have a nice crowd showing up for the games,” said Ubaid Khan, president of the Lethbridge and Area Cricket Association. “There have been so many onlookers and people passing by and then stopping in and bringing their lawn chairs and asking questions (such as) what are the rules and regulations? We have people walking around and helping everyone and giving them an update as to how the game is played and to educate them and walk them through it.
