JB Masters, previously known as Brampton Masters, won the traditional Toronto and District Cricket Association’s top division championship on Sunday (July 17, 2016) with a 187 run victory against Mississauga Ramblers. Captain Royston Crandon and Varun Sehdev lead a Masters recovery that became a march towards 286 all out. Varun Sehdev eventually steered a ball behind square on the offside to bring up a century, under the almost watchful eye of a large JB Masters banner that proclaimed “Life Goes On” for Johnny Bujan (JB) Masters Cricket Club.
It was certainly an emotional day as JB Masters won a third consecutive Toronto and District championship. The club becomes winners of the inaugural TDCA Super 6 50-over championship. The Super 6 teams now switch to a T20 format regular season with playoffs to follow for the top three.
Mississauga Ramblers beat Toronto CC at Maple Leaf CC on Saturday (July 16) in the playoff game to decide JB Masters opposition in the 50-over Super 6 Final.
