Newton Surrey wins Div 1 Pre-Season T20 in BCMCL

Newton Surrey I won the Division 1 Pre-Season T20 championship last Sunday (April 19, 2015) with a six wicket win against Abbotsford II in the British Columbia Mainland Cricket League (BCMCL). IndCan I captured the Division 2 title thanks to a seven wicket win against Surrey Stars I.

Surrey I won by 13 runs. No details were available for the West Vancouver I v Abbotsford II game when this review was compiled but Abbotsford II advanced to the Division I final. Amarbir ‘Jimmy’ Hansra provided the backbone of Abbotsford II innings in the Division 1 Final with a personal contribution of 58 runs in his team’s 120/7 from 20 overs. Lovejeet Brar picked up 3 wickets for 20 from 4 overs for Newton Surrey I. Manrick Singh, captain of Newton Surrey, produced an innings of 45* that helped his side to victory, Newton Surrey I reached 122/4 at the end of the 17th over.
IndCan I won a low-scoring Division 2 semi-final by 20 runs in which neither side topped the 100 mark. IndCan I’s innings closed on 97/9 after 20 overs. Newton Surrey II was held to 77/6 after 20 overs. The other semi-final saw only four wickets fall. West Vanvouver II tallied 135/2 from 20 overs. An innings of 95* from Sukjindar Jaswal propelled Surrey Stars I to a winning 136/2 with four balls to spare.
Surrey Stars reached 100/9 from 20 overs in the Division 2 final. IndCan I replied with a winning 101/3 from 19 overs
