Thursday action in the CIMA Mayors Schools cricket involves the last two Senior Boys groups playing round-robin at Eglinton Flats, followed by a quarter-final match between the two group winners. Group C involves C.W. Jeffreys, Father Henry Secondary and West Humber, whilst Group D has Emery CI, George Harvey CI and Weston Collegiate.
The 9am games saw Emery beat Weston by ten wickets and West Humber beat Father Henry by 60 runs. Weston scored 46 runs for the loss of three wickets, all these wickets falling in the 12th and final over.
West Humber reached a useful looking 85 runs for eight wicket in 12 overs, then made Father Henry struggle to 25 all out in 10.5 overs. But the participation of the likes of Father Henry is progressive, not only for bringing in new schools to the cricketing family, but brings a bridge between the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic School Board in the sporting arena.
George Harvey beat Emery by 71 runs in the 11 am game on the west pitch at Eglinton Flats on Thursday. After scoring an impressive 115 runs for the loss of just one wicket (12 overs), George Harvey bowled out Emery for 44 runs after 11.2 overs.
