Outdoor Cricket Season sprouting in the Greater Toronto Area

Various cricket leagues in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) are sprouting outdoors over the next three weeks. Some games were scheduled for this weekend in the Brampton-Etobicoke & District Cricket League, but Elite Division action begins during the Victoria Day Holiday weekend on May 18 and 19. The Hamilton District Cricket League’s Premier Division season is also set to open on Sunday May 19, while the Toronto and District Cricket Association’s Elite Division begins with games on Saturday May 25.
The season will also begin on Saturday May 25 in the Canadian Commonwealth Cricket Association of Toronto (CCCAT). The Keele Reservoir pitches, which serve the top division in the CCCAT, are being re-built. Last season CCCAT the Elite Division teams had some interlocking fixtures with Elite teams in the Brampton-Etobicoke & District Cricket League. This year, six CCCAT teams are due to play some inter-locking schedule games against Toronto and District Cricket Association teams.
The Scarborough Cricket Association is holding a General Meeting and Captain’s table meeting this Sunday (May 12). The twelve team Premier Division has opening games scheduled for May 18 and 19.
The regular season was due to open on Saturday (May 11) in the Brampton Cricket League’s Morning League and 50-over League. The 50-over league had five teams, while the Morning League has three divisions with eight teams in Division One, five in Division two and four in Division three.
The Etobicoke District League held an Annual General Meeting on Sunday April 7, but the schedule for 2013 has not yet been posted on the official website.

The Brampton Etobicoke Premier, Division 1, and Division 2 each has two conferences with six teams per conference. Division 3 had nine teams and Division 4 has six teams.
The Morning T25 competition has two conferences, each with six teams in Divisions 1, 2, 3 and 4. Division 5 is a single conference of nine teams.
