The USA advanced to 123/3 at lunch, losing Dodson, bowled by Baidwan, and then Surujbally caught by Gunasekera off the bowling of Junaid Siddiqui. After lunch Nazar reaped the benefit of an economical spell when he caught and bowled Ganesh as the game settled into a battle for first innings lead. Baidwan dismissed Timbawala without further additional to the total, then Nazar had both US skipper Patel and Corns stumped as the US slipped to 147/7, then were all out for 183.
When Canada batted again, Gunasekera extended Canada’s lead with some powerful striking of the ball, the most attacking batting of the game. He hammered a century from 91 balls out of 165, with fourteen boundaries.

Day 1: Canada batted first in the 2-day Auty Cup match against the USA in Toronto and were dismissed for 228 after at one point being 105/0. They made a good start thanks to a solid opening partnership between Gunasekera (72) and Bastiampillai (55) but then struggled against the US spinners, led by Timal Patel’s 4/66.
