Vancouver (BCMCL) win latest encounter with Victoria (VDCA)

Vancouver 185 (34.4 ov) beat Victoria 121 (29.4 ov) by 64 runs
Vancouver beat Victoria in the ongoing inter-city and interleague series between the cricket leagues based in those two British Columbia cities on Monday (August 5, 2013) at Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, BC. Vancouver captain Jawad Dawood hit 59 from 48 balls (3×4’s, 5×6’s) in the middle of the order to drive his side from 65 for three to a healthier 149 for five. Ty Holton then struck with three wickets and Abdul Samad Khan returned to the Victoria bowling attack to capture two late wickets before the last wicket added 24 runs. Khan also dismissed two of the top order batsmen – Ravinderpal Singh (28) and Thanethiran Kurooparan (27) – but was on the receiving end of some of the middle order recovery. Khan ended with four wickets for 62 runs from his nine overs. Opening bat Umer Nawaz made 22.
Manny Aulakh took three early wickets when Victoria batted. Opening bat Dushvant Kohli (26) and captain Gaurav Kumar (29) provided something of a recovery and Trenton Schulz-Franco provided some resistance in an innings of 23 from 50 balls. Gurtej Singh picked up three wickets for 21 runs before Aulakh returned to capture the last wicket for a return of four wickets for 48 runs from eight overs.
