It’s been more than 100 years since cricket has been played at Fort Anne, but this weekend it’s back with a two-day tournament and workshops. Annapolis Heritage Society’s Ryan Scranton said the last game was played at the fort in 1891. He has archival photographs of the match and they are what inspired him and local resident Simon Bonnington to conspire to bring the sport back. Lyllian Stewart of Parks Canada at Fort Anne National Historical Site welcomed the opportunity to work with the heritage society and said cricket would have been played regularly at the fort at one time.
On August 17 and 18 there will be cricket workshops in the mornings and matches in the afternoon.
