Father Michael Goetz High School girls repeated as Mississauga’s Girls High School CIBC Trophy Champions by winning the three girls teams group on Wednesday (May 21) at the Iceland cricket ground. Father Goetz began with a 24-run win against St Joseph and followed up with a 23-run win against T.L. Kennedy Secondary School. Haressa Attique scored 33 not out in Father Goetz innings; it was the highest individual score in the 2014 Mississauga girls competition. T.L. Kennedy beat St. Joseph in the day’s opening game, a win that carried T.L. Kennedy to second place in the group.
St Joseph scored 45 for one wicket from eight overs in the day’s opening game against T.L. Kennedy. St. Joseph’s Onkia Robinson scored 12 not out, which proved the best score from the bat of the game. Sadhana Rimal’s two overs cost just 5 runs, while Hadia Triq conceded six runs from two overs. T;L. Kennedy acquired a winning 46 runs after 4.4 overs. Wides formed the major part of both teams total scores. A wide counted as a basic two runs, plus any additional runs that were completed.
Amanda Pereira scored 29 not out of Father Goetz score of 76 for one wicket from eight overs against St. Joseph, who replied with 52 for three from eight overs. Father Goetz won by 24 runs. Jessie Ha took one wicket for 9 runs from two overs.
Opening bats Amanda Pereira (14) and Haressa Attique (33*) gave Father Goetz a good start in the championship deciding game against T.L Kennedy. Father Goetz innings ended on 75 for one wicket.
