
The Valley Park Middle School’s Go Green cricket ground in Toronto was officially opened on Thursday (June 4, 2015) with a ribbon-cutting for the pitch and a commemorative game won by Toronto Police Cricket Club against the Go Green Blazing Blades. The attending guests included the Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, and representatives of several organizations that helped fund the new field that can also be used for baseball.
Toronto Police Cricket Club won the commemorative game against the Go Green Blazing Blades by six wickets. Blazing Blades struck 208/6 from 20 overs, boosted by 77 runs from Ansar Khan. Opener Ahmed J made 46 with opening partner Ali Haider scoring 23. An opening stand of 121 from Toronto Police’s Alfred Goodwin (62) and Asad Khan (42) set the path for a victory achieved after 18.5 overs when the Police reached 209/4.
