The new entrants to CIMA cricket, MiWay Mississauga (Mississauga Transit) stunned Toronto cricket circles today by beating the much favored Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Cricket team at the inaugural CIMA inter transit cricket tournament held at Sunnybrook Park on Saturday. CIMA held the inaugural inter transit cricket tournament as a preliminary event of the annual CIMA Mayor’s Trophy cricket to be held on Saturday June 20, 2015.
GO Transit (Metrolinx), Mississauga Transit(MiWAy Mississauga), Brampton Transit and Toronto Transit Commission cricket teams took part in the tournament. This is the first such event between the leading Transit organizations in Ontario and has generated great interest amongst the cricket loving transit employees. While Metrolinx and TTC had their employee cricket teams for the past decade, MiWay Mississauga and Brampton Transit formed employee cricket teams for the first time through this event – both organizations reported tremendous employee response to continue employee cricket.
The defending CIMA Mayor’s Trophy Champs TTC will have another chance at beating rivals MiWay Mississauga when they meet again at the CIMA Mayor’s Trophy on June 20th. The details of CIMA Mayor’s Trophy can be found here.
