United Victoria leads weekend cricket league heading into playoffs at Beacon Hill Park
United Victoria won its second last game of the season against Carico by 10 wickets Sunday in Beacon Hill Park.
The teams play in the Victoria and District Cricket Association’s weekend league and, with play-offs on the horizon, United leads the pack with a record of 11-1-1.
United wrapped up its regular season against Metchosin on Sept. 5, in the West Shore.
The Victoria club is back at Beacon Hill Park on Sept. 11 for the semi-finals.
The league finals are set for Sept. 18. Admission is free to all games. The Victoria winner will then travel to Vancouver to play in the B.C. Mainland Cricket League (BCMCL) Tomlin Cup.
Last year, United fought hard but lost the cup to Vancouver, says United’s captain Atif Khan.
This year, the club hopes to return to the Tomlin Cup and win the Sept. 25 tournament in Richmond. To find out more about coming games visit www.vdca.ca.
