The Canadian U19 squad played India in a warm-up match. They were soundly beaten on the field, but Indian coach, Rahul Dravid, took the time to meet with the Canadians afterwards. Wisden India reports:-

It provided a boost to the whole squad. “It was a big deal meeting him. Everyone in the team was buoyed,” said Luthra. “Just to talk to someone who has played that much cricket. He is someone we look up to. Everyone wants to do what he has done. It was so special.”

Luthra wasn’t alone in feeling that. “It was basically a dream come true for me, personally, and for a lot of the boys as well,” said Miraj Patel, the team’s vice-captain. “Meeting Rahul Dravid is always a pleasure. He is a true gentleman in the sport, and his thoughts certainly gave me a boost to my game, and it has helped me out.”
