Robert Murray reports for Fort McMurray Today:-
The Fort McMurray Cricket Club announced via their Facebook page Monday afternoon they had been granted full member status from Cricket Alberta.
An associate member before, the club will now have access to logistical help from the provincial organization and the added ability to have their players selected to higher level competitions.
“By becoming a full member, we have voting rights now,” said FMCC president Irfan Bangash. “We have a say in the decision-making process.”
Votes for decisions at the provincial level are awarded based upon the number of teams in the local organization’s league and the executive members. Looking at the potential of having as many as 12 votes to cast alongside the other full members from Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer, Bangash noted it was a “huge weight” for any decision related to the future of the sport in Alberta.
